Asakusa: The first place you should visit when you come to Tokyo

Are you wondering if you want a professional photographer to take family photos in Asakusa?

The Asakusa area is so large that I don’t know where to go.…
I want to know in advance where I can take photos and what kind of photos I can take.
How can I avoid the crowds?

Hi! I’m NAO, a professional family photographer based in Tokyo.
With over 17 years of experience5.0 stars on Google from 73 happy clients.
I will introduce some recommended locations in Asakusa for taking family photos, along with photos from customers who have actually taken their photos there.

The entire Asakusa area

You can take a variety of photos with traditional Japanese architecture as your backdrop

You can take photos in typical Japanese architecture.
There are many sights to see, so you can take lots of photos in a short amount of time.
There are many kimono rental shops, so it is easy to take photos in traditional Japanese clothing.

Sensō-ji

You can take a variety of photos with traditional Japanese architecture as your backdrop

You can take photos in typical Japanese architecture.
There are many sights to see, so you can take lots of photos in a short amount of time.
You can experience unique temple experiences such as fortune telling and bathing in the smoke from an incense burner.

There are several temple buildings within a 10-minute walk, so you can take lots of photos without having to move around much.

Kaminarimon

The most famous landmark in Asakusa

A classic photo spot in Asakusa
Pass through the gate and walk for 10 minutes to Sensoji Temple.
On the way to Sensoji Temple, there are Japanese souvenir shops and food shops lined up on both sides.

It gets very crowded, so I recommend going at least by 8am. Outside of that time, the crowds are so big that you can’t move your camera back to take a full-body shot.

Senso-ji Hozomon Gate

3-minute walk from Sensoji Temple

It’s close to Sensoji Temple, so it’s definitely a spot you’ll want to stop by.
You can see the Skytree from the east side of the gate.
This gate is over 20m wide and you can take beautiful photos from any direction.

Asakusa is Tokyo’s most famous tourist spot. It’s the best place to see traditional Japanese architecture. Recently, there are many kimono rental shops, so many customers rent a kimono from a rental shop and take photos. In that case, please plan to meet the photographer after changing into the kimono and take the photos. Also, since it is difficult to walk in a kimono and sandals, I will prepare so that you can go around the Asakusa area efficiently. If you let us know your wishes, we can tell you the order in which to visit many shooting locations in a short amount of time, and ways to avoid walking, so please feel free to consult me.

Sensō-ji Five-Storied Pagoda

Next to Senso-ji Hozomon Gate

Located next to Sensoji Temple and Hozomon Gate.
Taking advantage of the height of over 50m above ground, you can take photos that give a sense of traditional Japan.
It is lit up every day from sunset to 11pm.

In Tokyo, modern buildings often stand side by side with traditional architecture, but the direction of the five-story pagoda is reassuring because there are fewer modern elements. I recommend this photo because it can be composed entirely of traditional architecture.

We chanced upon Naoko while looking for photographers to document out recent Tokyo trip. Naoko kept in constant contact with us and even updated us with the weather conditions. Though it was a pity the weather was foggy and we could not capture Fuji-San, Naoko managed to capture something that is much more dearer to us, our smiles. Pure unadulterated happiness could be seen from our finalised pictures and we are so pleased with them. For those who worry about the language barrier, please rest assure that Naoko is fluent in English and we never had any issues with the session. We will definitely contact Naoko for future photo sessions. Thank you Naoko and Nori for your patience to my family!

Very glad to have met photographer Naoko Komuro to take our family vacation photos in Tokyo.
She made it so fun and easy for us to shoot with 2 boys aged 2 and 6. Her English language was good as well and Able communicate to us what to do and how to post. The boys were very comfortable with her and we loved the shots she took.. as seen in all the happy faces captured in some pictures attached here. Would highly recommend her for anyone who wants memorable shot for their holidays in Japan!
